La Crau ( a 17,000-20,000-case blend
of 60% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah,
and other diverse varieties) should rival the
great 1998, which is just now emerging from a
dumb, closes state, something all recent vintages
seem to pass through. It tips the scales at 14,8%
alcohol, but that is hidden by the wine's wealth
of fruit and concernation. A dense dark ruby-colored
effort with a sweet, heady nose of licorice, seaweed,
iodine, balck currants, and cherries, the soft,
fleshy attack is followed by a full-bodied, concentrated,
and structured wine that will require some patience.
It is a richer, more structured, powerful, and
larger-scaled example than the 2000. Anticipated

also possesses 14,8% alcohol, along with a deep
rubypurple color, charming, rich, fruitiness,
and firm tannin in the finish. With loads of freshness,
coplous quantities of pepper, seaweed, and black
fruit characteristics, and a distinctive minerality,
this full-bodied sweet 2000 requires 2-3 years
of cellaring; it should age well for 15-16 years.

out of displays spiced cherries, kirsch, and waxy raspberries.

before Didier Simonin, its US this medium to full-bodied
beauty is a chewy. asphalt, garrigue, black importer,

Saint-Péray - La Grande Colline
Hirotake Ooka is een jonge japanner”fou du vin” afgestudeerd fakulteit oenologie in Bordeaux. Vlug uitgekeken op conventioneel en technisch wijnmaken in Bordeaux verhuist hij naar de Rhônestreek. In de regio rond Saint-Péray kan hij enkele wijngaarden huren die al een tijdje niet meer onderhouden werden. Terroir en ligging was zeer geschikt voor natuurlijke wijnbouw. Geen enkele systemische behandeling van de wijngaard en in 2004 slaagde hij er in om zijn wijnen sulfietvrij te bottelen.

Druiven vergisten apart in open houten foeders. Daarna zes maanden lagering in cuve. In de neus het zuiverste fruit mogelijk. Van rose frambozen tot zwarte kersen. Sulfietvrij is er CO2 aan toegevoegd om de wijn tegen oxidatie te beschermen.
Even wachten, karaferen of goed walsen haalt dit er uit. Hier proef je wat je ruikt zonder dat retronasaal wordt afgestompt door zwavel. Prachtige wijn voor geen geld.

Clairette de Die 2006

Beschrijving
Dit is een zogenaamde "Petnat" dwz pétillant naturel.
De wijn wordt, als hij nog niet volledig uitgegist is, reeds gebotteld. De vergisting gaat dus verder in de fles totdat alle suikers vergist zijn of totdat er zoveel koolzuur in de fles zit zodat de gisten stoppen met werken. In dit geval zit er nog een aangenaam deel restsuiker in de Clairette.
Een prachtige dosis zuren vangt dit mooi op zodat dit één van de lekkerste aperitieven/digestieven is die je in Frankrijk kan vinden. Compleet natuurlijk én zonder de dosis sulfiet waarvan de meesten denken dat dit noodzakelijk is.
